Lets get started..

For as long as I can remember I have had a fascination with food, with memories always relating to the food I ate growing up in Ireland. Food is vital for us to fuel our lives, pulls people together and binds us to our environment.

However, what we eat can negatively impact our health affecting our energy levels & mood, impairs how the body heals & restore itself, leading to illness and affecting our natural environment. This can be easily forgotten or just hard to address when we are juggling busy lifestyles thus why not seek support to help realign to improve your health.

This core love of food naturally drew me to a long and enjoyable career in hospitality, where my early career saw me working on the waiting tables to working in kitchens, advancing to managing venues.  My career took from Dublin to South Wales, with spells in the Midlands and the USA in various hospitality venues. Those long unsociable hours can take its toll when striving to maintain a nutritious diet along with adhering to recommended physical activity advice, which I’m sure people can relate to.

Having a great knowledge of food, I wished to develop that knowledge further from a health perspective so that I could share and help others to make those improvements. I recently qualified with a 1st class honour’s degree in Health and Nutrition at University of Wales Trinity St David, learning about human physiology, weight management, dietary recommendations, sports nutrition, physical activity and exercise advice along with strategies to change behaviours. Alongside my studies I qualified as a Personal Trainer which provided practical experience supporting and coaching people to improve their fitness. Additionally, I have volunteered with national and local charities mentoring clients preparing and cooking healthier dishes.

I mentioned I love cooking and of course eating food, and I’m a big believer in keeping meals simple where time, taste, along with the cost of meals are my priorities. I’m sure finding the time to cook healthier meals is a challenge for many people, this is an area I can help guide and empower you to take control of.  To maintain a more wholesome fitness I combine cycling and running locally, along with resistance training which I feel has benefited my durability and helped reduce risk of injuries. I have completed some notable cycling events such as the Wicklow 200 and longer events up to 290km so I have a practical understanding of adopting the nutrition science for fuelling adequately for endurance events.

I hope that gives you a little insight about me, but I hope to share more supportive advice through my website in the future. I would love the opportunity to support you on making positive health changes in your life so please get in touch to see how I can help.
